Russell Westbrook is a known style enthusiast, so it’s no surprise that he sees himself working in the fashion industry once his time in the NBA is over. The NBA star, who has been popping up all over Paris Fashion Week, spoke specifically about his post-basketball playbook with WWD.
“I’m trying to create an empire of fashion,” Westbrook tells WWD. For the OKC star, this means creating his own fashion line and brand and he’s studying the industry’s best up-close to figure out what that takes. “People introduce me to different designers, different editors, different bloggers,” he says. “I just sit back and watch how they do things.”
There’s also the possibility that Westbrook could design for True Religion, a brand he already has a partnership creative directing and starring in ads for. Teresa Riva, TR’s marketing director, could not say for sure whether he’ll create his own collection, but did guarantee, “He’s definitely going to be a partner with us in the future.”
Westbrook’s other fashion ventures include creating a collection forBarneys, underwear brand Kings & Jaxs, his own line of sunglasses, Westbrook Frames, and a sneaker for Jordan.
